"Scatter the Scars" by Colleen Couch

“I was inspired by a song of the same title as this piece. Often we pick dandelion puffs, blow the seeds into the air, and make a wish. We might take for granted that, while beautiful and beneficial, dandelion plants might be a nuisance or inconvenience to the yard in which they land. Sometimes our wishes can have have the same effect unless we are more mindful of how, when, where, and why we invoke them. It might just be a silly wish, but it also might just come true.” -Colleen Couch

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Colleen Couch is a sculptural papermaker living in Memphis, TN. She graduated with a BFA in Sculpture from the Memphis College of Art in 2000. She is a member of North American Hand Papermakers and her work has been shown in cities across the country. Her next show will be a collaborative exhibition with Dolph Smith at The Dixon in Memphis, TN in April of 2025.
