Wisdom is an essential part of being. To receive wisdom from a family member, mentor, confidant, or friend— it shapes you. Ponder those moments when someone you trust or care for stated, “if I knew then what I know now.” What exactly would change? Where would you or the individual speaking this to you be?
During the creation of this art piece, Kiara Santos reflected on a previous conversation with her father on career choices. In this conversation, they they discussed how people spend so much time peeling the layers back from every choice made that we often never get to make the choice and take action. Repeating the cycled statement of “if I knew then what I know now, I would (or wouldn’t) have done it that way.” Santos created this piece as a reminder to rid the excuses and take a leap of faith. This piece is an anthem for inspiration. Age is an excuse, “hard” is an excuse, “tired” is an excuse. So take a moment, pick your hard, fucking believe in yourself, and DREAM ON!
