“In the spice of the city I am surrounded by many very strict signs. These signs filled me with fear. But I didn’t want to be afraid. And so, when I painted these signs, I stopped being afraid of them. I realized that they are my friends!!!”
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Oleksandr Andriienko is a refugee from Ukraine. Their profession is a theater director, teacher, artist and graphic artist. Oleksandr Andriienko has staged more than fifty plays, shows and musicals in Ukraine and Europe. As an artist, they have created scenery for 15 theater performances, and have had more than 15 personal and joint exhibitions.
“Living in the USA, I became a member of BAA (Bartlett Art Association). Eleven of my paintings were presented at exhibitions in WKNO Gallery Ten Ninety One and in the Atrium Gallery of Art at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett. Now three of my new paintings are presented at another exhibition. In a year I have painted 35 new paintings here. Now six of my paintings are in private collections in the USA. In my paintings I try combine the best traditions of American and European painting.”
